Learn how to utilise sgraffito to adorn clay and create your own individual piece of functional artwork.
In this workshop, you will carve one handleless cup.We will go through painting the cups with an underglaze, sketching ideas and working on composition, and then transferring these ideas onto your clay pieces before learning to carve the clay to best achieve the mark making you desire.
After the workshop we will fire your carved cup in a bisque firing, before then covering it in a clear glaze and putting it back in the kiln for its final glaze firing. You will then be able to collect your cup in a couple of weeks.
During this class you will get to choose a pre-made cup (white or brown clay), one clay test tile to practice carving on, carving tools and brushes, paint for the cup.
The cups carved in this workshop are both microwave and dishwasher safe.
